When bride-to-be Nicole initially contacted me about possibly coordinating her wedding, I did everything I could to win her over. I wanted to do this wedding because her fiancé Sean was a member of the United States Marine Corps and had served our country oversees. I wanted to do my part, no matter how small, to help this couple have the wedding of their dreams. Also, Nicole and Sean were two of the nicest people I had ever met and I immediately wanted to work with them!
Nicole and Sean were married on November 12 at the Historic Penn Farm in New Castle, Delaware. This wedding involved a lot of DIY projects, and the venue was a complete blank canvas. The good thing about the venue is that it allowed the couple to completely transform the barn into the vision of their rustic, Fall wedding.
Nicole wanted to get married at this venue because she grew up on a farm, and wanted her guests to experience the serenity and beauty of the Historic Penn Farm. The mix of the rustic barn, plus the beautiful November weather made for a gorgeous wedding. Guests danced the night away to country music, played with props in the photo booth, and took selfies with polaroid cameras!
I loved all of the little details that bride Nicole had thought of. From the marine-themed toasting flutes, to the cowboy boots, to the old truck that served as an amazing backdrop for photos. All of these details perfectly showed off the bride and grooms personality!
Guests took home adorable succulents for their wedding favors.
Nicole and Sean took time during their reception to play the "shoe game", which was a fun and interactive game for guests to enjoy. It also allowed guests to get to know the newlyweds a little better!
I think I am turning into a sap, because lately my favorite moments of weddings have been the ceremony. This wedding was no different. I teared up throughout Nicole and Sean's vows to each other. It was clear to everyone that this couple was madly in love with each other.
This naked cake fit in perfectly with the rest of the décor.
Flower girl Liberty was the hit of the wedding!
Nicole and Sean did a "first look" before their ceremony, which is always a beautiful, intimate moment. I love that this couple involved Sean's son Liam, who also served as the ring bearer.
Here are some more of my favorite moments of the day. I had a lot of trouble narrowing it down to just a few pictures!

I had been working with Jess and Jordan for over 18 months to plan their perfect "barn chic" wedding. This was a fun wedding to plan, and I lovingly referred to Jess and Jordan as "My Havertown Couple". I was always happy to meet with them since they lived just a few blocks away.
On October 7th the high school sweethearts said their vows at St. Denis Church in Havertown. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony and had 14 members in their bridal party. Once they said their 'I Do's' we made the hour and 15 minute trek into Lancaster where the couple would party the night away with 160 friends and family members.
The reception took place at the Barn at Silverstone in Lancaster. I absolutely love this venue. It's a renovated, upscale barn. It has a rustic feeling but with 21st century amenities. Jess and Jordan wanted something different from the standard ballroom wedding and the Barn at Silverstone was an obvious choice for them.
When it came to picking a theme, this couple wanted a very classic wedding. Jess said she wanted her pictures to still look modern twenty years from now. She opted for a black, white, and gold color scheme.
When it came to proposing, Jordan planned a huge "proposal party" after he got down on one knee at Jess's parents house. Once he popped the question, about sixty friends and family members came over to celebrate!
One of my favorite moments of this wedding came later in the evening. The couple surprised the bride's parents by having all of their guests sing "American Pie", which was played at Jess's parents wedding.
The couple also had a late night popcorn bar, provided by Rettew's Catering. It seemed to go over well with all of their guests!

As you may already know, I am reflecting back on our weddings from this year. This week I am highlighting Lauren and Matt's wedding! Lauren was our "June bride" and I loved working with her and her entire family. Lauren and Matt are from the Pennsylvania suburbs, but moved to Boston after they graduated from Penn State University. So, for the planning, I mainly worked with Lauren's mom. During the planning process I got to know the entire Mills family and absolutely loved working with them.
Lauren is one of seven children-- yes I said seven! All five of her sisters served as bridesmaids and her brother was a groomsman. The Mills live on a non-functioning farm in West Chester. Growing up, the Mills' children each had their own cow to take care of. Their parents believed that by taking care of a cow they were learn how to be more responsible. Lauren's cow, Bessie, was a guest at the wedding. You can bet she was a big hit!
When Lauren and Matt got engaged, Lauren’s parents transformed their barn that was being used as storage. They wanted the barn to be a fully functioning event venue and added electricity, a workspace for cooking, new floors, and new stone and lighting. Lauren’s parents hope to host their other six children’s weddings here in the future.
The wedding took place on Saturday, June 18th and 165 guests attended. A lot of the guests were college friends from high school and Penn State. Lauren and Matt were high school sweethearts at then attended college at PSU together. They were both stand out cross country runners while at PSU.
The ceremony took place outside on the property, then guests moved to the upstairs of the barn for cocktail hour. After cocktail hour they were seated downstairs and sat at long farm tables, surrounded by lanterns.
Lauren and Matt describe their wedding as laid back, colorful, and happy.
Their Proposal Story: Matt took Lauren out to a fancy dinner for their 5th year anniversary of dating. The went for a walk beforehand, gave Lauren a letter he wrote, and got down on one knee.
Setting up and transforming this venue was truly a labor of love. But the end result was definitely worth it. Some of my favorite details were the table numbers that were wine bottles, and the ceremony programs that doubled as fans. There was definitely a sense of family throughout the day, since the couple said their vows in a place that was very familiar to them.
